The lifestyle in Calabria is laid-back and easy going. With Calabrese people, everything has its proper time and place – times to eat, relax, socialize and do business. You will find that at 1 – 4 in the afternoon, the streets look virtually deserted as the people are enjoying their siesta time. But don’t let this fool you, Calabrese people also know how to let their hair down. After 4, shops, bars and clubs may stay open well into the night.

Reggio di Calabria
Reggio di Calabria is the oldest and largest city in Calabria. Set in the Strait of Messina, Reggio has beaches that stretch out in all directions. Reggio di Calabaria is a survivor – it has endured in the face of invasion and shattering earthquakes. It has played host to numerous peoples – including the Visigoths, the Ostrogoths, the Byzantines and the Moors. This beach resort province used to be the capital of Calabria until it was shifted to Catanzaro. But although it is no longer Calabria’s capital, its scenic location more than makes up for the loss. Its National Museum contains a fascinating collection of ancient art. Reggio is also known for the Bergamot essence (for perfumes) that it produces.
Tropea
Crystal clear water, white sandy beaches, rippling hills full of exotic tropical plants, and old churches. Welcome to the Capital of Relaxation - Tropea. The valleys are filled with winding creeks, fruit trees, tropical flowers and sweet-smelling Mediterranean plants. You will also find historical and artistic treasures in Tropea, starting from the local houses with their grand entrances. Gaze in wonder at the frescoes painted by distinguished Tropean artists. You will also find numerous ancient churches adorned with interesting sacred images. Tropea is filled with magic and is simply a must-see when you visit Calabria.
